Clinical Supervision Mastery Course: Confidently Address Difficult Issues and Build a Foundation for Success

Program Information

Objectives

  1. Determine best practices for providing clinical supervision, including the use of a written informed consent contract and thorough documentation procedures.
  2. Differentiate various models of clinical supervision, including advantages and disadvantages of each, and ascertain how each may be applied to the practice of clinical supervision.
  3. Evaluate four key characteristics of an optimal supervisory alliance relationship that promotes professional development within the supervisee.
  4. Develop specific clinical skills for repairing a rupture in the supervisory alliance.
  5. Construct a clinical supervision genogram to gain insight and understanding into the professional identity of the clinical supervisor.
  6. Demonstrate the use of summative and formative feedback strategies as they relate to clinical supervision practices.
  7. Utilize various observation methods for the purpose of providing continued education and guidance for supervisees.
  8. Develop methods for identifying and managing cultural and contextual factors that may negatively impact the supervisor-supervisee dyad.
  9. Determine standards for cataloguing and addressing cultural or contextual bias within both the supervisory and the therapeutic relationship.
  10. Implement strategies for strengthening the supervisory alliance within a group supervision setting in order to facilitate learning and professional development.
  11. Apply at least four supervisory tools to evaluate the competency of a supervisee in a clinical setting.
  12. Ascertain the ethical and legal risks associated with the role of a clinical supervisor and develop skills to circumvent those risks when possible.
