This programme is designed for those who have already completed the two-day training, Becoming an Effective Supervisor I (BES I). It will focus on how to set up, maintain and run effective and efficient supervision groups. It will look at a number of models of group supervision (four in particular) as applicable in a number of contexts e.g., training, organisational. Group supervision will also be considered when applied to teams as well as small groups and especially teams within an organisational setting. The programme is designed to help beginning or experienced supervisors learn about group dynamics within supervision groups and how to manage the issues that arise while maintaining high level learning for all.

Learning Objectives:

  • To understand what is meant by group supervision and compare and contrast it with individual supervision.
  • To present four models of group supervision and review characteristics of each.
  • To look in detail about how to set up a group supervision arrangement and build in supporting contracts.
  • To outline the skills need for supervision group facilitation and to practice these skills.
  • To be aware of group dynamics and how to read groups and their processes.
  • To be alert to difficult transactions in groups and learn how manage conflictual situations in groups.
  • To understand team supervision and some of the particular issues that may arise within it.
  • Strategies for working with groups in supervision.
  •  


    CERTIFICATES IN SUPERVISION from the CENTRE FOR SUPERVISION (UK)


    A CERTIFICATE IN SUPERVISION will be awarded to participants who complete:
    Becoming an Effective Supervisor: Part I (BES I)
    Becoming an Effective Supervisor: Part II (BES II)

    and one of either

    Ethical Maturity in the Helping Professions
    or Group Supervision.

    An ADVANCED CERTIFICATE IN SUPERVISION will be awarded to participants attending all 4 trainings.

    Attendance at previous Michael Carroll trainings run by PsychOz Publications in 2007, 2008 and 2010 will be recognized. FULL ATTENDANCE is required to receive the CERTIFICATE or the ADVANCED CERTIFICATE.

     


    MICHAEL CARROLL Ph. D. is a chartered counselling psychologist and an Accredited Executive Coach and Supervisor. A counsellor, supervisor, trainer and consultant to organisations in public and private sectors, he specialises in employee well-being. He has lectured and trained nationally and internationally, and is an excellent presenter with a great sense of humour.


    Michael is Visiting Industrial Professor in the Graduate School of Education, University of Bristol and the winner of the 2001 British Psychological Society Award for Distinguished Contributions to Professional Psychology.
