Practicing counselling and therapy is one of the few professions in which everything that you learn in your work is applicable to your personal relationships, and every aspect of your personal experience helps you to understand and work better with clients. This Masterclass, limited to 35 participants, is designed to help practicing counsellors and therapists reflect on the growth and obstacles they have experienced as clinicians—and as human beings—as a result of their work with others. Based on several of Kottler’s books (On Being a Therapist, The Client Who Changed Me, Moved by the Spirit: Discovery and Transformation in the Lives of Leaders), this workshop is designed to help practitioners to explore at a deeper level the joys of their work, as well as ways that they can revitalize their professional and personal lives.

Particular attention will be devoted to developing internal as well as interpersonal strategies for dealing with the stresses and strains of therapeutic practice including: work with difficult clients, dealing with failure and negative outcomes, as well as the developmental and emotional struggles of professionals who help others for a living. Opportunities will be provided to work through current impasses in your caseload and personal challenges in your life.

APS Endorsed Activity of 14 points(CCOUN).
